Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where did you learn to take pictures?
A: A lot of what I know about photography has come from practice and experience. That said, I do have a degree in commercial graphic design with an emphasis in photography. I spent a lot of time in the darkroom in college.
Q: How/when did you get into photography?
A: I have been taking pictures for as long as I can remember, but it was high school when I started getting more serious about taking pictures and learning the process of photography. I took a break from photography after college so I could get a job that had health insurance (we were getting ready to have a baby!) 15 years later, that baby started playing volleyball giving me an excuse to get back into taking photos.
Q: What camera gear do you use?
A: I use Canon cameras and lenses. I use ProGrade memory cards and I use thinkTank for my bags and gear cases.
Q: What program do you use to edit your photos?
A: After an event/photo shoot I ingest and cull the photos with Photo Mechanic. Once I have the photos ingested, I edit them in Adobe Lightroom and on occasion Adobe Photoshop.
Q: What Lightroom presets do you use?
A: I don’t use presets. Every photo is different and presets are almost always too heavy handed to use.
Q: Can you tell me what settings you use on your camera?
A: I can, but my settings may not work for what you are trying to accomplish. While I am not sure I am a very good teacher, I would be happy to share any knowledge/suggestions with you.
Q: What is your favorite thing to photograph?
A: I like taking all different kinds of pictures but sports photography is my favorite.
Q: I have seen the photos of FHS sporting events, can you come take pictures at my kid’s game?
A: I sure can! Like I said above, sports photography is my favorite. I would love to come take photos of your kiddo and their team. Depending on travel distance, sport/event, and length of coverage a minimum investment may be required. Let’s talk about what you would like. Contact me at [email protected]
Q: What is your pricing, and why don’t you have it on your website?
A: Because every client is unique and every session is different, I like to talk to you to find out what you are wanting before I quote you a price. Typically, my clients can expect a minimum investment of $250 for a family session and $350 for a senior session. Contact me today at [email protected] to discuss your needs.
Q: I want to set up a family/senior session what is your availability?
A: I try to be as flexible and available as possible, but because I have a full-time job and other commitments, I tend to book up pretty quick. If you are interested in booking a session with me contact me at [email protected] as soon as possible so I can get you scheduled. It is never too early to start booking fall and senior sessions.
Q: Do you do mini sessions?
A: No, I don’t. Like I stated above every client is unique, but mini sessions are designed for maximum efficiency so the photographer can push multiple clients through the same set. At the end of the day, you end up with photos that look just like 6 other clients and you typically spend more per minute when you book mini sessions.
Q: Are you available for weddings?
A: I have made the decision to not take wedding photos at this time. Weddings require time commitments that I cannot make.
